Chillhop

Chillhop music is a leading lofi record label, based in Rotterdam and streaming globally, helping listeners slow down and focus on the moment. The label merges music and visuals to create ambient scenes of Chillhop characters studying, exploring the streets and going on holidays.
We collaborated with the Chillhop team to bring their brand strategy to life through a new brand identity, website and livestream player. Listeners can now interact with tunes by adding ambient sounds and changing the animating environment of the racoon’s world.

The Chillhop wordmark is very relaxed. The headline typeface, Rauschen B by Out of the Dark is very relaxed with rounded edges as if it has been printed with too much ink onto a textured stock. Colours and gradients are mixed into ambient atmospheres that support the illustrative worlds that Chillhop characters find themselves in. The leading colour has been eye dropped from the racoon’s famous yellow hoody. Blur, grain and hand drawn elements add texture and depth to designs and couch the brand in the lowfi aesthetic.

The leading character of the label is the raccoon, adored by fans the world over. We carefully transformed the illustrated character into an icon for the brand. The raccoon’s face, eyes closed, head tilted into a slight breeze was the perfect pose that captured the vibe.

Working with the Lovework team on our rebrand was a great experience. They put in the effort to really understand the brand and translated it into a beautiful and easy to use branding package.
